Football Saturday is Here!!!

Bang the Drum!

And the Danny Hope era at Purdue starts 1-0 with a 52-31 win over Toledo! And Purdue got a 59 yard FG at the end of half, so I am VERY happy about that.

Next week Purdue is at Oregon so Pauline has a friend flying into Portland Thursday and Saturday the three of us will drive 2 hours south to Eugene for the game and we will also be doing a lot of site seeing until she leaves Monday so we will have a nice 5 day visit as well as a few days off of work for the both of us.

And we get to go to a Purdue football game so that is even better!

I do find it sad that in this age of technology that we cant get every game on PPV either on TV or at least, online. ESPN Gamecast is the best thing I have found for “live” updates but that is still pretty weak overall, its always 5-10 minutes behind.

Today we started off with a breakfast of steel cut oatmeal which was interesting and considering the cold rainy day we have was as perfect of a meal as we could have hoped for, and we sat in the office watching OSU/Navy and a few other games and just got too chilled so we started a fire and we both have or Macs downstairs in front of the first fire of the year and watching more football on the big screen in HD.

Right now the wonder twins are both curled up in front of the fire and I am starting to warm up.

I deem today a success…

My M-F gym routine

Mt_Hood

I have wanted to post this for a while, not to brag, but to remind me in the future what I am currently doing and to have something to compare it with when I go over this blog and hopefully I will have improved or at least maintained.

Pauline and I have been going to the gym Monday to Friday for over 19 months now and for the most part we have been very dedicated in doing this, we have skipped a few days here and there and we both skipped most of December 2008 due to travel and burn out but overall we have gone 5 days a week.

Our travels have been the #1 reason why we didn’t go for 90% of the time so I am very pleased with that. There has been many days I just wanted to sleep in but went and there has been days we went and just did the minimum (treadmill) but at least we still went.

My normal routine is started with the treadmill and I always approach them with hesitation due to the fact out of 6 TVs there has been times all 6 have been on FOX and at 9am when we arrive that means “The 700 Club” which causes HUGE frustrations with us and the other members, usually it’s a race to change them, but when there is more then the “usual group” its not always easy to change them. (Side note, the TV boxes are set to come on that channel, and I as well as other members have complained many times to have the cable company change the default and that has gone nowhere) So usually ESPN, CNN, NBC is on/changed to depending on who else is using the treadmills or bikes.

I start by walking .25 miles at 4.0 and than I run nonstop 2 miles on 6.2 – 6.6 depending on the treadmill I get, this takes me 20-22 minutes and I normally walk until I get 25 full minutes on the treadmill as my cool down, sometimes I walk to the 30 minutes, but it gets pretty boring so lately it has been just 25.

I than head back downstairs and HOPEFULLY no one is using the one and only crunch bench, which more times than not, it is unused.

I grab a 25# free weight and I do 25 sit-ups, 25 crunches, 25 side to side sit-ups and 25 sit-ups where I raise the 25# weight above my head. I started doing these 25 at a time, than 50 and now I can do all 100 at once non stop and I do 4 sets of these for a total of 400 a day which I need to increase it by another 100 for 500 total. (which I have done a few times, but honestly it gets boring)

Today the crunch bench was being used so I went and did my arms first and FRACK that about killed me when I finally got back to the sit-ups, that needs to be my first thing done, other wise I struggle. And its pretty weird to see a circle of sweat on the floor around me when I am done, hopefully the cool weather will help with that since I am leaving literally pools of sweat on the floor and yes I always whip down the bench, I have too, it looks like someone poured water on it when I am done.

Normally I do squats after that, but the squat areas are pretty popular with the bigger guys so a few days a week they are using them and doing 600#+ so I wait or skip the squats that day since I max myself at 225# and if I can’t do my 3 sets of 10 I move on to the inclined bench where I have been doing 135# 10 times for 3 sets and I move to the bench and either do #135, #185 or at times 225#, it all depends on which bench I get and how I feel. And I have tried to add shoulder/arm exercises and curls into my normal routine but for whatever reason I haven’t, I blame burnout/boredom.

So there it is, I went from 236# down to 193# back to 215# which appears to be my weight now since I have not gone up or down more than 2#’s in months and I don’t see that changing until I change my eating habits which doesn’t seem likely. We are eating much better now than we have, but I am too set in my ways when it comes to food. Toni is on a strict calories count diet and she has lost so much weight, and I am considering to go on it myself, but I just HATE being hungry and I enjoy eating good food, so I am not ready to count my calories just yet… but my jeans are tight… frack…

Dear Law Enforcement officers…

Peace!

Having your actions called “stupidly” is NOT the same as being called stupid… Regardless of what was said.

Unless someone threatens to kill/physicaly harm you, you as an officer of the law, do NOT have the right to arrest someone who is in their own home even if they are saying mean things about your mommy, it’s called the First Amendment.

There is no doubt in my mind Professor Gates was a total dick who overreacted, but to arrest him and charge him with a total BS charge that is dropped the second the DA gets it just because he called you names and insulted your mommy? Puh Lease….

The second it was verified that he was in fact in his own home, the only thing left to do was say “sorry for your inconvenience” and leave, not stand there and argue cause he is cussing up a storm.

How exactly do you expect this will end? Do you think putting a man in his own home in cuffs, booking him, taking his mug shot is the reasonable thing to do for calling your mommy names?

By all means, sue the Professor, get a jury and explain to a jury why a man who was in his own home was arrested for nothing… yeah, great idea, I’m sure you will make millions.

I don’t think the cop is racist, but I do think he needs thicker skin and yes, I also think he did act “stupidly”.

On life goes on…

Fact: Ferrets attack more people then Gr

We have been home for 2 days and I am just starting to feel myself again.

The funeral was pretty hard to do, when they closed the casket so many people started to cry (including myself) and when we pall barriers walked the casket out I somehow got to be the first one to lead the casket out, not sure how that happen, but it happen and it was hard, I cried the entire way and really needed to blow my nose the entire way. Liza and the boys really lost it on the way out and it was noticeable, I even didn’t have to turn around to see who it was.

I never been to a funeral where there was 8 pall barriers and we was all making fun of that and talking how big Diesel was etc and now that it’s over all I can say is HOLY FUCK I’M GLAD THERE WAS 8 OF US! He weighed a fucking ton. And when we carried him to the grave site we was only allowed to use one hand and we had to wear white gloves which made it harder, the ground wasn’t even and we was all petrified we would fall, but we didn’t and he was sent off with honor.

After that we went to Liza’s and had a gathering and just talked the afternoon away, we got back to the hotel around 5pm and got room service and just chilled out. I had very little booze left and tried to go to bed early but as soon as I was close to falling asleep I had an anxiety attack which pretty much kept me up the entire night. We left at 7am and were home by 1pm and over all it was a good drive home.

We did the gym Thursday and overall I did really well unlike today when the second I got the treadmill which is upstairs I knew I was in trouble, it was so hot and muggy it felt like Florida. On a normal day I can easily run 1-1.5 miles before I start to breathe hard and today I was gasping for air after 1/4 mile so after I passed the 1 mile mark I just said fuck it and did a 5 minute walk and got off the treadmill. This was the first time since I broke the 2 mile barrier I didn’t run 2 miles. I started to do my sit-ups and after 200 of the usual 400 I said fuck that too and called it a day.

So I am in a pissy mood as I sat in the Jeep with the a/c running until Pauline finished her workout and we went to the store where they was having a 1980’s day and wow, talk about funny, that really made my day better, these workers really went all out.

We also finally broke down and bought a new grill which was something we wanted to get for a year or more. And I cooked up some killer rib eye steak, baked potatoes, corn on the cob and asparagus. Turned out pretty good, I just wish I waited for the sun to go down; it was at its peak angle where the grill is so it made it pretty hot and uncomfortable.

We are watching Kevin Smith Threeeving and I’m sure we will like it as much as we liked the first two.

Did I mention it’s too fucking hot?

Oh Canada…. not again…

LiveStrong

We got in around 10 am Sunday, which was about 2 hours earlier then as expected, so when we checked in the hotel we had to wait 45 mins for our room which is no biggie, we ate some breakfast that we both regretted, sometimes you want to eat sweet and sometimes you don’t and this was a time we didn’t. We got into our room and took a 3 hour “nap” that really helped, but wasn’t enough to make the day any better.

We arrived at the funeral home and hugged D’s wife Liza and the oldest son J who was doing ok, sad but not crying, as I was hugging him the youngest son D was hugging Pauline and he started to cry than he jumped toward my arms and really broke down crying hard as he death gripped my neck and he cried and cried hard for 10+ minutes… and all I could do was hold him and cry, that so broke my heart as it has never been broke before, I will remember that moment for the rest of my life.

Diesel and his wife belong to a nontraditional Christian church which is made up of about 99% Asians and they have nontraditional way doing things.   So the funny thing was watching all us non Asians trying to figure out wtf is going on and we was all in the front rows, so we was turning around to see what everyone behind us was doing.

They gave some sermons and told some biblical stories that had nothing to do with the Diesel we knew, but they showed a funny slide show of Diesel from his life that got us all laughing, Pauline and I was in a pic that neither of us remember when and where it was taken, and I was in a few more pictures from the wedding.

After we went to the reception room to eat and talk and just comfort each other, it was so wonderful to see our friends, some of them I have known for over 18 years. Some of us are still in shock; some of us are laughing our way through all this.

Diesel is in his Navy Dress Blues and we put some Crown Royal, popcorn, a DVD, and some BBQ spice in his coffin. D looks pretty good for a dead guy, he looks “stuffed” into the coffin which made us all laugh, and he has a smirk on his face that as one of us said “that he just won his last argument” which was so him.

We tried to get an honor guard from the US Navy here, but found out today not enough of them have passports and Canada wasn’t too keen on allowing the US Military into Canada with weapons, so we will have a bugler playing taps and they will do the Flag ceremony.
