Pauline and I went to the Patagonia July 4th Parade. We got there about 15 minutes before the parade started and was able to talk with some friends as we waited in the Summer heat.
I very interesting parade, they have a tradition of throwing water balloons and using water guns to soak those in the parade and those sitting in the front row of the parade.
It was pretty funny to see the Town Marshall getting drilled with multiple water balloons. He was quick to point out that “I am still able to give tickets” which drew laughter.
The parade was led off by some Fire Fighters honoring the 19 Fallen Fire Fighters from the Northern Arizona wildfire last week. The only thing thrown at them was gratitude.
It was a nice parade. We had fun. We walked around for a bit, had chili dogs, Pauline got a snow cone and we came back to the preserve which so far is the busiest day of the week. We have had 6 visitors today! 0 Yesterday.
Tonight I think we are staying home, they have a fireworks show, but I am not much for fireworks so no point in trying to find parking and dealing with the crowd. It seems like everyone in the area is here, by far the most people I have ever seen in town at once.
They also did a public hanging of the Grand Marshall and his cohorts. He was guilty of being a member of the worst band in the world, a band so bad that when they play Lambada and it sounds like a waltz. His wife was guilty of associating with the worlds worse band, and the 3rd guy was guilty of being from Canada.
Hang’em all was the verdict.
