Blood Work

Had blood drawn when at the doctor last week. Got my test results.

My 3 months of blood sugar is in the pre-diabetic area. With my great-grandmother & grandmother having it….no surprise….sadly.

Which is why I go to the gym but haven’t been very good on avoiding and monitoring my sweet intake the last few months, especially at work. Doesn’t help I have my father’s sweet tooth….eye roll

Good news is that my goal of wanting to lose 30 more pounds will address both my blood sugar and my blood pressure. And I’ve already been working on that.

There is no way I can give up my pasta, sweets, breads….just need to cut it all back. Get my pasta in whole grain, cut back on my baked potatoes…need to pick up long grain rice as a sub.

I told them right off the bat that I’m not giving any of that up, especially my chocolate. I will cut back and monitor it….because what is the point of living if you can’t enjoy the pleasurable things in life?

Oh yeah, the sucky part is we both need to cut back on all sorts meat… not just red meat.

Totally not use to having a meal without it.

So what it comes down to is that I really need to work on it my food monitoring.

I was 40 pounds lighter 6yrs ago and that was after doing the same thing….counting calories, cutting my sugar intake down and going to the gym. I can do it again, just a lot harder when you get past 40.

Not Happy Health Update

Well….the doctor says that every thing I’ve been doing to be proactive the last few years is on the right track…..I’m just annoyed as heck that it didn’t stop the elevated blood pressure.

Took blood to see if there is anything else going on that may contribute to it.

Says it is more then likely genes, no meds unless I really want to. I didn’t get the feeling that she was going that way and I really don’t want to end up there yet.

With my family history…..it is probably the genes. Even though I knew that this could happen, not happy to having this at the young age of 45.

Since I’ve already go towards lifestyle changes she mentioned the DASH diet…..well, as soon as I hear the word diet, I think fade and how false those are.

But she explained that it stood for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) that the government came up with from conducting studies.

So not a “diet” like all that crap that is out there, just a healthier lifestyle of eating, backed by actual science studies.

A lot of the stuff that I feel should be a given, need more fruits and veggies, less beef and pork (I LOVE my bacon), more poultry and fish.

Already looking at some examples….you are not going to get me to eat yogurt…..I’ve tried that on and off over the years….I can’t stand the texture and what I would be able to tolerate flavor wise, has way TOO much sugar….which is what I try not to do unless it is my beloved chocolate. ?

I already go to the gym, 3-5 times a week. So I’m doing right by that.

Can’t wait until I get a later work schedule and be able to the gym in the morning, which is best time health wise on digesting food and getting the day going.Need to work on my sleep, I’m lucky to average 5hrs paa night….says I should get at least 7.

Next day off will be do more research on heart healthy eating.

Now time to get my gym time in for the day.

Oh and to top it off……I’ve LOST an inch….I’m now 5’6″…..and hubby is like, I’ve been wondering if you have been shrinking or have you always been that short…..eye rollI’m turning into my mother! icks

Customer Relations…..lol

Hubby talking to a customer today, he told her he use to live in Troutdale.

She saids “You must be tough. All those Gorge Winds” (They has hit up to 85mph in some areas)

Asks where he is from originally, he tells her Indiana.

She saids “Oh, then you are use to crap”

LMAO!
