The week of the 14th was much easier stress wise, but still very busy. More pics and less writing in here. =)
Since the rains have started the growth in the plants around here has been nuts! Where it was brown it is now lush and green. It is a hugh difference. The invasive Johnson grass is now 4ft high in some places. They normally mow it down, but they may have a rancher that could use it.
ToRn was busy with mowing and weedwacking. The weedwacker left bruises on him and his work clothes are now stained with green….lol
I took a hoe to the section that they had planted native plants to attract more butterflies and hummingbirds. Now I haven’t used a hoe in over 20yrs, felt clumsy and goofy with it, but got the plants uncovered. I wore gloves, but still ripped a portion of skin on top of my thumb. It is like it totally skipped the blister part….I’m like ggggeeezzz…I could’ve at least given me a blister as a warning….lol One week later and you can’t even tell I did that.
And with the rains, the bugs have come out in full force. Before, barely any mosquitos, now we are eaten alive without spray. I wear hats when I do go out at night, to keep the june bugs from getting caught in my hair. At least with a hat they bounce off of my head. The june bugs are different then we are use to, they are smaller and a light brown. In Indiana where we are use to black and much bigger.
They also have bugs we’ve never seen like this one :
The rains help make a lot of pretty sunset pictures that I can’t resist.
- Camp
- Glacier River
- This year’s bridge, until it gets wiped out. =)
The flash floods in the creek mess with the mind. One day it is a calm trickle, then we get a bunch of rains to the north and you have raging water. Which makes it interesting on getting around. The creek here crosses the road in and out, so we had to learn the local way. They open a private property during the rainy season for folks to get through. But unless you are staying here, it is not known.
The down pouring of rain makes the down town streets into rivers. It is kind of cool, but nutty. LOVE having our Jeep for that….grin
