Around 10 am I went back out on the trails looking for the bear. I still have not found any track or scat, but I made the most of the hike.
I walked the creek for 1/2 mile or so, bone dry for the most part. So dry the plants were just about dried ash. I once again was treated to the songs of the Gray Hawks, but since I was in the bush, I didn’t have very many open shots.
Saw a trio of bucks walking near the visitors center on my way out, and a bunch of humming birds when I returned so I was finally able to snap off some decent shots.
I was disappointed not seeing a Violet Crown since we have seen them outside our windows using our feeders, but I would have to clean the window to take the picture and well… you know.
Of course I was even more disappointed when I was reviewing my pictures of a broad-tailed when I noticed the Violet Crown flying past. Never even saw it. sigh.
At the moment it’s “dark” as we have some clouds passing over while we hear a rumble or two of thunder. Just waiting on the rain. If we get it.
