Food For Thought

With Obama about to become President, I have hope as everyone else.  But at the same time, I’m very nervous of people building expections too high that they are going to set him up to fail.  I truly believe that he can and will make things better, but he is not all powerful.

He has congress and the senate, everyone and anyone wanting their imprint on things, the courts, the GOP…..his hands will be tied in a lot of things, he will have to make concessions that the grass root supporters will not like.

I know there are things that he will probably do that I don’t like and agree with…..that is politics and being forced to work within the area that he has…but will people understand that?  That is what concerns me…..I’m use to studying history and politics, so I can see the different sides, even if I don’t agree…………….

Martin Luther King Jr

Most blacks say MLK’s vision fulfilled, poll finds

**You know I’m extremely proud that my country voted and put a black man into the highest office.  BUT King’s vision is no way fulfilled.  He vision included economic equality that plays into our racial history.  That is huge part of King’s work that gets forgotten and pushed to the side.

Yes, we have a black family moving into the White House, a house built on the backs of slaves, but we still have a long way to go.

To the World.

Change We can Believe In

Dear World:

We, the United States of America, your top quality supplier of the ideals of liberty and democracy, would like to apologize for our 2001-2008 interruption in service.

The technical fault that led to this eight-year service outage has been located, and the software responsible was replaced November 4.

Early tests of the newly installed program indicate that we are now operating correctly, and we expect it to be fully functional on January 20, 2009.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the outage. We look forward to resuming full service and hope to improve in years to come.

We thank you for your patience and understanding.

Sincerely,

THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
