Ok, here we are on the last few hours of 2008 and I still can’t think of a decent thing to write about for my year in review.
Honestly, not much happen in 2008 that really stands out for me. I mean of course Obama winning was HUGE, but that is just a small part of 2008 since he hasn’t taken office yet. But I am still very sad that McCain stooped so low to try and win and I’m still repulsed by Palin and her whole “we are a white trash family and proud of it” attitude. “Real America” I suppose?
February seems to stand out more for me in 2008, it is when we got our new Jeep which I just love to death and it has already made me happy that we got it thanks for the need from this all the damn snow. And now reading about some of the more remote places we want to go hiking at and I am reading how a SUV is needed just to get the areas so that makes me smile even more knowing I get to REALLY use my Jeep!
February is also when we found out Reggie has nasal cancer and lately he is showing more wear and tear from it. He has breathing issues (his right nostril is constantly plugged) and now he has eye issues from the area being infected. But he is still as grouchy and demanding as he has always been and we have been going out of our way to spoil him even more. Stupid cat.
In April we went to visit my parents in Minnesota and had a good visit, low drama and plenty of site seeing and wild life. I need to start looking at flights there to plan a visit this year and honestly, I don’t want to travel on a plane anymore, but I am not in the mood to drive 1700 miles one way, especially with Reggie’s health and Alexis being so old. If it was just the kittens I would pack them up in the Jeep and take 7-10 days of driving to MN and back with a few stops in between.
In June we got new camping gear that we still haven’t used yet.
In July we went to Vegas, where we saw a lot of good friends and even made some new ones and of course I won $1350 on slots which I never win at so that was cool, that helped out getting furniture which we desperately needed. Which the kittens have scratched to hell from playing on. They don’t sharpen their claws on it, but they chase each other all over them which leaves marks and damn, they really marked up our once new leather couch and leather recliner and leather ottoman.
In August we decided to move to our new place and of course we also decided to go on a last minute trip to Curaçao which was pure hell getting there, the worse travel experience we have ever had, but we had a really good stay and enjoyed seeing old friends, so it was a worthwhile trip. We also had record temps here on the day we moved which made the 3rd move in a row where we had record temps on the days we packed and unloaded so our new goal is to get our current lease for 2 years this February so when it expires it wont be 103F. My brother and his family also came down and we really loved having them down. Except for the youngest getting us both sick as hell right before our move and right before Curaçao. Damn kids.
Purdue football was terrible.
Purdue basketball is looking good!
Colts are once again legit contenders.
Pacers…. suck.
In October we did our first real day hike and did 12 miles of “difficult” trails that took 8 hours and 12 mins and went from 40′ to 2800′. We really enjoyed it and plan to do it again as soon as we can, the only issue was the distance and our first hike was a big one. But as I told her, we now know our limits which is always a good thing. Now we have to make sure we don’t wait until Oct. 30 to go on the years first hike in 2009. Looking back “June-uary” totally fucked us up and August was our target month to hike and that was wiped out with moving and visiting and traveling.
This year, more hikes, less airplanes.
In October we also got the “Wonder Twins” who are evil. They are cute as hell, but for sure they are demons.
December Pauline left for 10 days and Alexis had some health issues come up, so we got to spend about $1600 on her this month. She better live to 17 or I demand a refund.
We are staying home again this year for NYE, the urge to go out just isn’t there, but the Oregon smoking ban goes into effect at midnight tonight, so it will be sooooooo nice not reeking of tobacco when we go to the bars again which will be so huge.
Not much else to say that I can think of, so I will end this.
Happy New Years all, I hope 2009 brings you peace and happiness.
