Productive Day

We finally got our room divider….but fedex, in it’s great handling, punch a hole in our package and damage it!  And it not only 1 pane, which they would’ve replaced and we could’ve sent 1 of them back, but it is 3 panes!  We’ve waited this for way too long….I’m actually pretty pissed by it.  Luckily, the customer service rep we spoke to is shipping out a new one without having to wait for receiving of the damaged one.  Now we have to reship it out the damaged one Tues, but the good thing is we have it until then.  We are hating the fact that we have to wait again…icks.

Well, karma hit fedex, but I think it hit the wrong guy.  When we were on the phone with the cs rep we keep hearing the fedex truck and honking, couldn’t figure out what the hell was going on.  A neighbor from cross the street came over, we had to move the jeep, because the truck was about to roll into it!  His drive shaft was in pieces on the road and we live on a steep hill.  Very dangerous.

We moved the jeep and got his truck braced with what rocks we could find, but that still didn’t relive the worry of it rolling down the hill.  The driver stayed on the break, called 3 different people and left messages.  Harold is like forget this, we can’t wait and called the police.  Luckily we only live 2 blocks way from the police station.  The cop that got here and put his ram bar against the fedex truck and with the rocks was a big relief.

Unfortunately,  that tied up the cop much longer then it should’ve since it took forever for the tow truck and mechanics to show up to the help the guy.  Cops are there to help and that is a good thing, but he shouldn’t had to spend that much time with that when there are crimes worked on and traffic to be monitored.  I feel much better when they are doing that since that is what they are trained for.

Last night and today has been productive.   I finally got the china and the rest of my knick-knacks unpacked.  We also got all our pictures and prints hung up.  Harold hung my curio clock that I love.  We even unpacked my 2 antique cook jars and found my missing Purdue fleece!!!  I’ve been looking for that for years….over 4 in fact!  I thought I lost it.  I am so tickled that we found it, I love that fleece, it is so warm and soft and it was given to me for xmas many years ago.

We brought a new shower rod.  The one that was here was too short by an inch and rested on the shower ledge.  Which sucked, since we ended up stepping on the curtain.  Our old ones were able to go higher but were easier to knock down.  We ended up getting one of those rods that curves out so you don’t feel like the curtain is right on top of you and it is anchored into the wall.  Don’t have to worry about that falling down any time soon.

We brought more shelves for the garage, since that is the last really huge project to do and we will be done settling.  =)  It is feeling more and more like home.

We walked down to the farmers & artist market here in town this morning.  Boy, it is a very small one.  We picked up some corn, raspberries and a tomato.  Also brought a Navajo vase.  It doesn’t look like we’ll be getting much from there, but at least it is walking distance.  We don’t like the idea of having to drive.  We like living here, because we don’t always have to drive to eat out anymore and there are little shops to visit.

I want to get the garage done early tomorrow after tanning, because looking at the area around my desk…..icks.  I have a bunch of work that I have got to get done…..and I really need to start that tomorrow…I really don’t have much of choice on that if I value my sanity this week.  And we want to go camping for a few days during the week.  I won’t be able to do that and enjoy it until I get caught up.

Sarah Palin – Vet This!

Found More GOP Lies

I wasn’t planning on doing another post, but the more surfing on the news, the more crap I find on the Republicans and the more pissed off I am.  And the what makes me even madder is the MEDIA doesn’t call them on it!!!  There are little articles here and there, but not damn thing making headlines!

The only way to get them called on, is to watch the Daily Show…now how screwed up is that?  You have to go to a “fake” news show to get the facts.
Factchecking Palin

Palin: “To the families of special-needs children all across this country, I have a message: For years, you sought to make America a more welcoming place for your sons and daughters. I pledge to you that if we are elected, you will have a friend and advocate in the White House.”

Sarah Palin might have changed her mind on this one recently. However, a comment here notes that Palin actually slashed funding for schools for special needs kids by 62%. Budgets: FY 2007 (pre-Palin), 2008, 2009 (all pdfs).

**Another lie from Palin….they just keep finding them.  How fucked up is that….slashed the budget for special needs kids by 62%?!?  That is such a good mother……..

Fake Soldiers Used In RNC Video

There’s the Continental Congress…A real WWII vet…Photos of workers at Ground Zero. A close-up of a folded flag presented to a grieving widow at a military funeral… profiles of soldiers swelling with pride in slo-motion.

But CBS News found that the footage of the ‘funeral’ and soldiers is what is called ‘stock’ footage. The soldiers were actors and the funeral scene was from a one-day film shoot, produced in June. No real soldiers were used during production.

The footage, sold by stock-film house Getty Images was produced by a commercial filmmaker in Chicago. Both Getty and the production company, Mr. Big Films, confirmed that the footage was shot on spec and sold to the Republican National Committee.

One of the actors, Perry Denton of Chicago, Ill. also confirmed that he was hired on a day-rate as an actor for the shoot and told CBS News he was surprised to learn the footage was shown at the convention.

**The RNC doesn’t give a damn about REAL soldiers…the ones that lost their arms to an IED….or how about the single mothers losing custody of their children because they are serving their country?

Palin aides peeked into trooper’s files, union says

(CNN) — Aides to Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin improperly obtained her former brother-in-law’s state police personnel files and cited information from those records to raise complaints about the officer, the head of Alaska’s state police union said Thursday.

**Wow….sounds like she is part of the corrupt system herself…….what a fraking liar.
Begala: Cindy McCain speech reflects new era in politics

I will note that Democrats have not attacked Cindy the way Republicans have attacked Michelle. Even mild-mannered Mitt Romney bitterly and unfairly attacked Michelle last night.

Attacking the wife is clearly a Republican thing — recall how Bush supporters smeared Cindy McCain during the 2000 South Carolina primary, then how they bitterly attacked Teresa Heinz Kerry in 2004. It’s a classic double standard and a typical Republican philosophy: do as I say, not as I do.

**Another double standard of the GOP.  And you know that if it was a teenage daughter of Obama or Biden that was pregnant they would be attacking them for being a crappy parent.  Now crap happens in life, but the two-face of the GOP really pisses me off.

Commentary: GOP shouldn’t knock community organizers

Bottom line, these average, low- to middle-income people didn’t have political power. They focused on people power. They organized a community to take action. iReport.com: Is Palin really ready to start an experience debate?

So when Rudy Giuliani and Palin mock community organizers, they don’t just toss a barb at Sen. Barack Obama, they demean Reginald and Emelda Martin. They degrade the women who fought for their rights. They disrespect the labor activists and immigrant worker activists like Cesar Chavez.

They dismiss those in the civil rights movement — folks from small town America who were sick and tired of being sick and tired. They thumb their noses at the Nelson Mandelas of the world who want a better life for their children.

It would have been perfectly fine for Giuliani and Palin to say that Obama’s community organizing days didn’t amount to enough experience to be president.

But when you openly laugh and mock those hard-working Americans who are in the trenches every day, then you really don’t care about “Country First” or service.

Will this be a major deal or a ripple? Likely the latter. But the one thing I know about community organizers is that they know how to organize communities. And if the McCain-Palin ticket wants to win, they best not slap those folks they need for voter registration drives and systems to get folks to the polls.

Community organizers are always told they can’t do something or are dismissed as meaningless.

Yet they often have the last laugh.

Rudy Giuliani, Sarah Palin and John McCain might want to remember that.

**As a friend pointed out, Obama graduated President of the Harvard Law Review, which in NFL terms is #1 draft pick….He could’ve done ANYTHING….clerked for a Supreme Court Justice, worked and make a ton of money at a big law firm….the world was his for the picking.  And what did he choose?  To go back into a poor community to help out….if that is not putting your country 1st over career, I do not know what is….maybe the GOP needs a few lessons.
