Nothing much ………..

Nothing much going on, power went out.  Not sure why, just went out……..it has been raining, no ice…so it could be a car accident.  You never know out here in the country.

Yesterday I just worked and played catch up on everything, at least made a dent in it.  There is still a bit to do.

I had told mom that I would like a baked ham with the brown sugar, pineapple, and cloves.  So she made one yesterday, the thing fell right off the bone.  It was great…..mmmmmmmm  I had quite a bit of that.

Today, I headed into Lafayette to get my hair done at the local beauty school.  Didn’t come out the purple/red that I prefer……..more of a fiery red.  I know that I picked out the right formula, but I think my hair has changed that it doesn’t take like it use to.  It still looks good……….grin

Then I stopped at the only jeweler we trust to have my ring checked out.  I just had the prongs replaced last April and those lasted 10 yrs with me working rough with my hands.  So I knew that they are good, but it never hurts to check, plus they clean it up for me and makes it even sparkle more………grin

I ordered 6 of our favorite pizza today, emphasized that we needed lite toppings.  I’ll be picking them up Thursday to ship out to Oregon.

I got a hold of Jessie & Michelle that use to work for me. We’ll be meeting for drinks/dinner tomorrow evening.  So looking forward to playing catch up.

Tomorrow, mom & I will go and do some xmas shopping for the kids.  I already have one of them, just need the other two.  So Thursday/Friday my project will be getting them wrapped up.

Well, I’m writing this in word and my battery is about to die, so I guess that is it for now.  It’ll get posted once I can get back on.

A Bright Spot

I called to check on my passport, because even though I sent off my DS-1350 (Certification of Birth Overseas) I was afraid I would still need my parents birth & marriage certificates.  With me being out at my folks, it would be the perfect time to get all of it.  Well, the passport people receive my info Friday and according to their computers, my passport has been completed and mailed off!  Since it is coming from Seattle and priority mail like Harold’s it should be in the mail box Wed or Thrus!  That is so cool.  =)

A Fun Weekend

I am exhausted, big time.  Doesn’t help that for the last 2 nights I didn’t hit the hay until 5 am and got up around 10am………and that was on top of drinking.

Friday I stole Sandi away from her family and headed  to a mall not that far from her.  Pretty much just did the woman thing and walked the mall.  We pretty much talked, talked and talked.  We are lucky to see each other once every few years and even though we spend a lot of time on the phone, it is not the same.

Then we went a few towns over to a hotel that Harold booked for us.  The hotel had a bar that had live music on Fridays and Saturdays.  So we went down to do some drinking.  Since we originally planned on finding a dance club, I want to do my drinking while all we had to do was walk to the room.  =)  That night we got a table towards the back of the bar and talked some more….lol  We were there until the bar closed, I got drunk and then we stayed up talking about our old school mates and what we knew about them, seeing if we could find them online.  It was weird to see some of their names again.

We finally crashed and Sandi is so use to getting up for her kids, so we ended up coming alive around 10.  Didn’t mean we really got moving………..lol  Then it was on to another mall.  I’m not really a mall person, but we wanted to look for xmas present ideas.  Both malls we ended in didn’t have really what we were looking for.

In one mall, we did find a music store where you just scan the cd and you can hear samples of the songs off of it.  So I with her help, I was able to find some more update artists that I would like.  Luckily for me, her having kids kept her update……lol  Without them, you get to busy in everyday life you just can’t keep up.  So when we were there I used my ipod to voice record the artist and albums, now I just need to listen to it and type it out.  Then I’ll have my xmas wish list.  =)

We were originally going to go to a dance club Saturday, but it was a drive away, Sandi didn’t bring any dance clothes and it isn’t really her thing.  So we cheated and stayed at the hotel, got a table at the front and just enjoyed ourselves.  She feels we had more fun then if we had gone to a club, partly because we knew 99% of the songs that the band played.  Most of it was from our teen years, so it wasn’t like we had to guess the songs.  She would dance in her little corner of the table.   I actually got up on the dance floor a few times later in the night and neither of us was feeling any pain.  =)

After the bar closed, we headed back up to the room.  Our room had a 2 person jacuzzi.  So we got some wine out and spent several hours in it……….grin.

It was a great weekend.  It was just us two and on one hand I felt we should have gone out and done more, but all we wanted was to spend time together………and boy did we talk, talk and talk.    I so missed that.  We can so fully be ourselves with each other.
When we were talking on the drive back to her place about making up a scrap book for each other, it dawned on us that we don’t have many pictures of us together………..and didn’t get any this weekend……….doh…. we are usually just enjoying each other’s company so much and talking (boy, we talk a lot and seems like we are never done…lol). So on my long drive back, I keep trying to figure out why I don’t take many pictures of people…..because I don’t.  Even of my family, I have to force myself and that is only because I don’t see them often and when it comes to the kids, they change so much. If I do take a bunch it is due to an event or gathering, family wise.  And the more I thought of it, I don’t like the pictures that I take of people.  I really prefer and enjoy taking scenery pictures.  Maybe it is because the subject is stationary and to get the right picture, I just make the changes…..zoom, lighting, etc…..instead of also having to worrying about someone’s facial expressions and movement.  Unless I can get people to pose for a few moments, I suck at the spontaneous shots and they frustrate me.

Tomorrow, luckily everyone is going to be busy, because I have neglected my online work for that last few days and need to spend a day on it.

After working on this post on and off for the last 2 hours, I better get my ass to bed.

Traveling

I’m in Michigan tonight.  2 days earlier then originally planned.  I was originally not planning on being here until Saturday, but Sandi had a change in her schedule when it came childcare.  So I moved our reservations up a day and was going to come up tomorrow.  But with my date changes my cousins weren’t able to meet, so I visited with my great-aunt some and came up.  Besides with the incoming snow tonight I wanted to miss it.  So I’ve been chilling with the family.

My flights from Portland to Indy wasn’t bad, just early and long.  Got to my folks about 2 hrs after my flight landed, I was so exhausted………tried to stay up as long as possible, but crashed about 9 their time (est) woke up about 3-4 hrs later and then couldn’t crash until about 4am their time, got woken about 7am to my niece being a brat and finally crashing for another hour or so about 30min later.

Took me a bit to get myself together to start my day of driving. Indiana is covered in snow. It always feels weird to come back, so many things are the same but there are changes here and there………….like Purdue moving a Calumet branch right outside of Crown Point…………….looked good.  So it kind of has the surreal feeling to it.  When I would come up from Florida I would really enjoy the scenery of vegation in Indiana because I didn’t care for Florida’s, but now that I’m living in Oregon I keep looking for Mt Hood and the hills.  So now the only really enjoyment I get scenery wise is that it looks like xmas and my confidence in my familiarity with where things are and what I’m doing since I’ve driven this part for about 15yrs of my life.

It was pretty and frosty this morning at my folks but I took a bit to get myself so going, so I didn’t stop for pictures.  =(  But I have time all next week for it.    I pretty much just plan on chilling with my family, going to stores with them and get some xmas shopping done for the kids.  Get a hold of a few of my friends for a dinner.  It is great when coming to visit and just feel how loved you are.  All the nieces and nephews wanting hugs and your attention.  Talking to my folks……….my dad just loves to pick on me…..lol

When it comes to the kids, I’m a huggy person.  Never use to want hugs that much except when I was sick when I was a kid, but as I got older they have become reassuring and when someone is upset and your not sure what to say, sometimes a hug says is all.

I better crash, it is about 1am here and the kids will be getting up early for school tomorrow.  Then Sandi and I are going out and having a few days of just me and her.  =)

Very Busy Day

Damn, my head hurts like a SOB.  I’ve tried everything, afrin, meds & a drink and it still hurts…….my sinuses are not happy.

At least I didn’t start out that way.  I was going to start out with attacking the litters, vacuuming, & gathering trash.  But since I wanted to vacuum the house, I decided to put the xmas tree up.  I normally put it up on the 3rd, my small way of paying tribute to my late uncle since that was his birthday.  But with everything that I need to get done before I leave Wed, I figured it would be less stressful to get it done today.  That project took me about 4-5 hrs.  I love the xmas trees and lights.  =)

The problem with taking a picture with all the lights on is that you can’t see all the glittery beauty.

I decided to try for some artsy type pictures.

Not sure if I’m very good at it, but they didn’t come out too bad with my point and shot.

I love the colors.  Can’t handle all white lights for the holidays.

So of course, after I was done with the tree, I attacked the house.  Got some online work done and did most of my packing.  My head is swimming on what needs to be done.  I’m heading to bed.
