I’m ready of nap, I haven’t done much but it sounds good.
Alright, where to start………yesterday Harold had to head into Portland and I needed to get my nails done. So I found a nail place on the only street I know……lol Of course, when I got there she couldn’t do my nails until much later. I asked if there was another nail salon around there, said I was sorry for being rude about it, but they needed to be done. The lady that was having a pedicure directed me to one not too far from there. Thankfully it was simple to get to. They did a pretty good job, which is good to hear with I needed my nails done while in the area.
I have been working on a project the last few days that I wanted to get topped off. End of the year receipts needed to be finished on entering it in my quickbooks. I got all those done, just need what ever we do within the next 6 days.
Every few years I redo my quickbooks set up, trying to utilize it and make it better organized. With doing the accounts for RMI, it has given me better ideas for our set up. I printed out my chart of accounts and started with setting up another company with better organization for our personal business.
I want to be able to use the check registry in the program, because it drives me nuts when I can’t get our bank account lined up with my registry. Somehow our personal account, after a few years, always end up off by $50 area. It is normally in our favor, so no big deal, but I HATE being off. Of course, every few years I open us another account, let the other one sit for a month or so to make sure everything clears then I clear it out. Sometimes it is easier to start fresh. I plan on doing that after we move farther into the city next year, why change the address on the checks after getting them? Besides since we are planning on staying in this area for the foreseeable future, so having that account based here would make our lives easier then explaining that it was opened online in Indiana so BOA placed it in Virginia…….a real pain.
Now I’m trying to motivate myself and to start moving the 2007 files over to storage container and set up the files for 2008. I also need to do that for RMI. I’m using plastic containers because after living in Fl. I didn’t want to worry about bugs, molds, and water getting to the files. But I’m wondering if I could get away with the file boxes………..I don’t know. I need to see what I have in the garage……more then likely stick with the plastic storage containers, because I’d rather be safe then sorry.
I have one work that I need to do, nothing much……I can probably knock the immediate work out within an hour. Just have no motivation for it.
Today, did the mundane Sunday job of cleaning the litters and gathering trash. I also went to the store since we were out of eggs and when I went make some pancakes for us the other day, I was disappointed.  When I went to the store, I wore my head band that has mistletoe hanging in front. I got some smiles and laughs. That is one thing that I miss working outside of the house during the holidays………getting people to smile and laugh. I like making people happy at xmas time, because smiles are contiguous and can be passed on, well to most people………..lol
Our tree looks really sparkly with presents under it. =) I hate the rush, rush of the holidays, but I do love giving presents. Don’t get me wrong, I love to receive them, but I really, really enjoy people’s reactions when they open their own gifts, making them feel special. I think that is why I prefer birthday shopping because I can give gifts without the rush, rush of the holidays.
I agree with my friend :
“Things I would keep for the season IF I could:
Lights
Cards (i love sending and receiving cards)
Music (both religious and secular) “Â
I love the music, more in the traditional sense.
It has been raining here, of course with it raining here then Mt Hood is getting a bunch of snow. Been hearing that the mountain passes are getting horrible. I need it to stop raining one night so I can walk the neighborhood and get some pictures of xmas lights.
The news is full of the midwest getting hit with the weather, so I called my mom to see how they are doing. I guess the 7-9 inches of snow that they got last week is gone and it is now very cold and very, very windy…….yuck I would rather have the snow. =)
Harold’s folks live in Minn., so they have been getting hit with the snow. That is normal for that state, while Indiana always does things strangely.
I remember when this guy did this in ‘94, it is in a town not too far from Purdue : Indiana Man Buys Truck With $25,000 In Change
A very good reason why to save your change.

When I got back on the 15th…………..finally, 6hrs late. I was going to get some online work done, but there was no way with the way my brain was not working. Even though I just wanted to sleep, I still wanted to get things done. So I got all my stuff unpacked, put away the laundry from Harold (he washes, doesn’t put away) and got myself organized. Then chilled out a little bit.
So the 16th, it was time to get my online accounting done. Started at 0730 and worked until about 2200 that evening. But I got it done. =)
On Monday, Harold went into town for the day. I spent all day just getting everything caught up, including our check books. By the end my brain was fried.
Then I spent the 18th to the 19th running around trying to get things done. But in the evening, we made a point to chill out in the front of the tv and take time for ourselves, instead of going back online and getting lost again in work.
Today was trying to get things done today. I did get some things done, but I started off very unorganized so it was no where near the efficiency that I wanted and needed to get what I wanted done. =( But I have it set up for my next attack.
I have been offered more responsibilities with my online accounting starting next year. I’m excited but nervous. It is accounting unlike anything I’ve done before, but learning new things is very cool and I’ve been thinking about expanding.
I need to play catch up on my messages.

Responding to a report that questioned the integrity of one of its football officials, the Big Ten on Wednesday pledged to begin annual background checks on football and basketball officials and review its policy on permissible forms of legalized gambling. Just months after a gambling scandal involving former official Tim Donaghy rocked the NBA, the Big Ten is facing similar questions about Stephen Pamon, a longtime official who served as a chief for a seven-man officiating crew this season. Pamon, who works for the Cook County sheriff’s office, has a history of casino gambling, bankruptcy and legal issues, according to a story that appeared Wednesday on Yahoo! Sports. Pamon’s history might have remained hidden if his crew hadn’t officiated the Nov. 3 Purdue-Penn State game, which featured enough questionable calls that Boilermakers coach Joe Tiller filed an official complaint. The Big Ten reportedly suspended the crew for the final regular-season game but allowed it to work Illinois’ 28-21 upset of Ohio State on Nov. 10.

Yes we had another forgetful year, but this win could have made a ho hum year to a damn good year. The calls in this game were not even close to being “gee, that could go either way” they was all “What the fuck are you doing calling that shit?”
What a way to start a day.

What a nutty year over all. We started the year living in Florida and end it living in Oregon.
The bad: My best friend Diesel had/has a brain tumor which almost killed him, I really thought he would be dead long ago, but his prognosis now is a good one, he is still reacting very well to the chemo and what cancer the Drs couldn’t cut out of his pea brain, seems to have shrunk even more so. So the bad has turned into a good ending so far.
The good: We moved from an area we did not want to be in, to an area we really wanted to be in and so far we are very happy with our choice. There is so much more potential and future here than in Florida both professionally and socially when you move to a blue state and a very blue city, which is a huge difference when we came from a very red city in a red state.
I still have not gone to the mountains yet since we been here, geeze am I lazy or what? I also still have not started to learn how to skate board or snow board either. Not like I have access to not one, but about 5-6 World Champions or US Olympic coaches or anything…. Nope, not like that at all…. sigh…
Purdue is in a terrible bowl verses a team we already beat by 22 in week 2 after another less then inspired year, but there is always next year. Purdue men’s basketball seems to be on the move up while the women are terrible.
The Colts, what can you say? We are the World Champs and we are looking like a true contender once more.
The Pacers are better than expected, but we still have Jermaine “Ouch, I’m hurt again†O’Neal and his way too much contract.
I did too much traveling in 2007. I still plan to travel a lot in 2008, but nothing too far in distance is planned other than a trip to Minnesota sometime, which will be super expensive thanks to cost of jet fuel. I have no plans to drive farther than Vancouver, BC all year long. 6 hours driving is enough for a while, and odds are we will stop over in Everett, Washington on the way up or down to visit with other friends.
Why drive 6 hours when you don’t have to?
We want to get back camping more and it’s not like we have a million places to camp at within an hour’s drive, we just need to get the gear and pick a place to go to. So anyone have a camping suggestion please speak up. We want privacy, where we do not have to worry about being over heard or whatever. Bears do not scare us, we are smart enough to know what to do etc and have camped many times in deep Minnesota country where they also have bears all around.
2008. What a weird number that is.
I am not really sure what we have planned for 2008. Learning how to skate/snow board would be nice. Get rid of this stomach would be nice as well, which if I learned how to skate would take care of itself. And as I already mentioned we want to go camping so buying a tent and other crap is on the “must get†list. We also are talking about getting a 2nd car. We have done very well with 1 car for the past 3+ years, but I am working in the city at least 3 days a week now and it’s a 30-45 min drive one way and we will have to contend with the hassle of 1 car until our current lease is up or until we get a 2nd car. Part of me wants a 2nd car, the other part is screaming just wait, its only 7 more months when the lease is up and we can find a house inside the Portland or in the Milwaukie area which more than likely will eliminate the need for a 2nd car.
For someone who is trying to do a review of 2007 I am doing a pretty crappy job.
Nothing really stands out for me this past year. The 10,000 miles I drove was more boring/bad then good. I enjoyed many parts of it, but so many more parts were hell, so it’s a wash of sorts.
We want to go back to Page, AZ, Zion, UT and the Grand Canyon, AZ and the Painted Desert, AZ. Other then that I seen everything I wanted to see in the places we stopped at. We want to go back to Alaska as well, and Minnesota as I already mentioned. We also want to explore Oregon a lot more, driving to Crater Lake and anything else that looks cool on the map.
Ok, this is a terrible year in review, I am just babbling so I will end it now.
Peace to all in 2008.
