One More Week

It is my last day off before I take the kids back next Saturday. It is sad. Sad, because I didn’t get to spend as much time with them as I would’ve liked.

Harold is just not use to kids. He does fine when it is in smaller dosages and six weeks was just to much for him. If I had been able to take time off from work it wouldn’t have been so hard on him. Next time, it won’t be so long and I hope that I’ll be able to take that time off from work.

We did get to go to the beach yesterday which was nice. Trying to teach them how to deal with the incoming waves and ride them. Also trying to “toughen” the boy up. He is 9 and boys younger them him dealt with the salt water better them him. But we also wonder if it is the simple fact that when family grown ups are there he just does it for attention. Cuz when no one is around he just deals with it. We are concerned with him getting picked on at school.

We went to see the shuttle launch. Unfortunately it was scrubbed due to the weather. But the kids and us did have fun regardless. =)

We were going to see it today, but it has been storming even more so then yesterday. So it did get cancelled. =( And we haven’t even been able to go swimming. =(

The only good came out it being cancelled was I was able to get some things done around the house that really needed to get done.

Since I work all week, I got the kids’ suitcases out and put some of the toys and books that they won’t be using this week or have on the plane with them. The suitcases aren’t big enough. I know that mom and dad packed clothes in them, but with them driving down they brought more then what they could hold. Plus it doesn’t help that they have gotten a few more toys while here. =) So even though I don’t need to take more then a small piece of luggage with me, I’m going to have to go bigger and put their stuff in mine…….lol If I can avoid shipping anything that would be great.

I’m going to miss them. I love it when they are chatter boxes on sharing what they know and when the light goes off in their head when something clicks.

I do think I got the boy into reading some. I know he has been really enjoying one of my Harry Potters so that is cool. I try to ask them where they are at in their reading without them looking at the book just to see if the story is actually in their head. I got the oldest on to Harry Potter and The Black Stallion (a major favorite of mine when I was a kid).

** Update : We did get some time in the pool. It was great to be able to spend some time with them. I try to impart words of “advice” and “impressions” on them. I guess I won’t know for a few years if it helps.

I did spend some girl time. I painted the girls toes and fingernails. It was kind of cool. Of course I can’t draw a straight line much less paint very well…………..especially small nails…………lol But I like to think it was a nice memory for them. =)

Cheyanne gave me a hug, I’m like what for. She says “for being so nice” =)

Little bit of relaxation

Not too bad of a weekend so far, yesterday we went to the beach to watch the space shuttle launch which they postponed for today 9 minutes before liftoff, and the weather today is worse then yesterday so I highly doubt they will launch it today, but you know how it is, if we don’t go back to the beach to watch, they will launch it.

So we stayed at the beach for a few hours, played in the sand and surf and just had some fun, we then came home and jumped into the pool to wash the sand and grim off that the hose didn’t get. We then kicked the kids outside and watched some Sopranos and then put the kids to bed and then watched the last of the 2 DVDs of Sopranos that we had. So we have ½ of season one watched, the first 5 shows were much better then the last 3.

Today we are just trying to figure out how we are going to arrange next Saturday the best way we can. Pauline and the kids fly out to Indiana Saturday at 9:15 am and I fly to Ohio at 10:10 am and naturally we are at completely different ends of the airport, so since I am taking my laptop backpack and nothing else that will not fit into it, I am going to park on her side of the airport, get them into line to check in, walk across the airport and check in myself and if there’s anytime left meet and say good bye. Ugh… I do not envy her having to fly with 3 kids.

I am going to Ohio on a small business trip, the company I am working for wants me to be in office a day or so to get some face time and talk about the future on projects and etc. This needs to be done; I just have no desire to go to Ohio. I have not been to the Midwest since we moved away and I was not planning on returning so soon to be honest, but it needs to be done.

Toni flies back Monday 3:15 pm and I get back at 3:39 pm, so we are meeting at her luggage pickup and then just going home.
