Do Over…

And it’s only 3 days old. Pauline was in Indiana and I was in St Pete on a boat all day Sunday, both of us enjoyed our day. And on my way home I noticed the engine was making more noise then normal, and the ac cut off for a few minutes.

I woke up early Monday and had a “private session” for jury duty at 930am and was asked to clarify some questions, and I was told to report back at 130pm and after I left I stopped and got the mail and the engine died. After I started it, it was ok, until I slowed down and it wanted to die.

I went back to court and once more the truck wanted to die. Pauline was coming in at 5:20pm into Orlando which is a 45 min drive and for the past week I had been getting out of court between 5pm and 530pm, so she was just going to meet me outside the baggage claim since by the time she got off the plane, got her bag I should be there. We got out of court at 5:10 so I called to leave a message on Pauline’s cell telling her I was on my way and she answered, the plane landed 30 mins early… what are the odds?

So I drive all the way to Orlando and I didn’t hear the noise as I loud as it was Sunday night, I pick Pauline up and I swear as soon as she got in the truck, the ac stopped working, so it was a long miserable drive home. We got home and I looked over the engine and not seeing anything wrong I went to go get some food and on the way out I stopped at our mail box (3 blocks away) and the truck died, as soon as I started it, it died. It took about 10 tries before I could get it running, turned around and coast it home, with no power steering. I open the hood and the belt is broke.

Ok, it’s pain in the ass, but no biggie, Pauline called a friend and she got the new belt for us and came over so I could put it on. Now every vehicle I have ever worked on has a pulley on a spring that you can turn 1” or so and it allows you to put the belt on with ease…. not this one. It took me an hour to get it on. So Pauline starts the truck for me and as soon as she did, it ate the new belt, and then I knew we were screwed.

So her friend takes her to a car rental place and she gets a rental, and then today we have the truck towed to a dealership. The air compressor is shot, $1200. Ok, now we are just mad, but what can we do? Meanwhile I am in court and after a few hours it is once more my turn for questions and then I am excused from jury duty. I still can not say anything more on this case.

So I am physically and mentally beat, pissed off over the truck and the timing of it all and then I get home and find out a close friend has had a death in the family. So now I am really bummed, just when you think the world can’t get any worse for you, it shows you that in the grand scheme of life, these “major issues” that you think are major are really not shit.

The truck is now fixed and we will pick it up tomorrow I think, tonight I just want to chill out, Pauline had to change her work schedules from opening to closing today due to the truck issues, so now she got home at midnight and had to go in at 7am todoay. So she is in for a rough few more days at least, and with all the traveling she has done she won’t get a day off for another week.

All I know is I want a “do over” for the last 2 days

I’m Back

**This was started Monday on the airplane……need to time to finish later.

I’m back! =) It has been a fun if tiring weekend.

I flew out to Indiana on Friday & dad picked me up at the airport. Jammed out to that Alamaba cd on the plane…..dang, I forgot how much I enjoyed those songs…… Luckily Harold didn’t have jury duty that day so he was actually able to take me to Orlando instead of me having to get a rent-a-car. It wouldn’t have been the same if we weren’t able to do our goodbyes.

I spent that afternoon just visiting with mom, dad & the kids (in between their playing). And spent it convincing dad that I could take off with his car to head up to the wedding on my own since I want to stop in Lafayette to get the present I wanted to get Amanda & Jason & of course, I wanted to stop and see Sandi on the way up…..grin He should be happy, I left him a filled up car (it only had half a tank when I grabbed it) and took it through the car wash. =)

I showed mom how to upload her pics from Tahiti to her pc from cd and then I started organizing my copies of them. I have them renamed with # with has close as them being in order as I can get them without me being there & working with 248 of them…..lol But for some reason my photoshop will put them out of order when I want to make a gallery of them for the family…….I was looking at that today while killing time in the airport and saw that I could rank them. So when I have time I may play around with that later this week.

Saturday I had a good 2hr visit with Sandi (even if that is never enough), found what I want in Lafayette….and then headed to the wedding. It was at the park in Lowell. They had a few arches leading up to where the ceremony was going to take place, in front of the pond. It was beautiful. The day was a warm one, so my hair went up. =)

It was a beautiful ceremony, the preacher had them stand under wedding arch and face the family & friends and he stood about 20 ft away and did the ceremony from there. It was very different on how he conducted it (from the standard) and he gave it with a great flair of humor thrown in.

Amanda and bridal party looked great. Mom and I took as many pics as we could. Mom thought a head and brought a cd down so we could down load them and give them to Aunt Shelia that day (the bride’s mom), but me being the space case left my wire for downloading from the camera here in Florida, partly cuz in my subconscious, I know that mom has the same one and I could just use hers. But she hadn’t the wire up to the wedding thinking that I had mine……..lol Luckily Cousin Bill (so weird calling him that since he is my dad’s 1st cousin and I’m use to referring to that generation in the terms of aunts & uncles……..lol) had the download wire that we needed, and it worked out even better cuz he had forgot his power cord for his laptop and his battery died. So he borrowed mine & I borrowed his. =) Then the cd that mom brought for putting the pics on won’t write, luckily I had the one where I put the pics on from Tahiti on & was able to add the wedding ones……grin So Aunt Shelia & Uncle Dave have a copy of the wedding and the mom & dad’s trip.

I merged the pics that mom & I took and got them in pretty good order of how the events happened. And this time photoshop didn’t goof them. =) But doesn’t she look gorgeous?

Wedding Pics

Here is the Bridal Shower I missed.

It was a great time. My Great-Aunt Evelyn was there (Cousin Bill’s mom) and a good portion of her side of the family. They are fun to visit with, but then I love visiting with family. =)

**Will be continued………

Long Week

Wow…..I’m just worn down. My last day off was Monday the 9th since we were in Ft. Lauderdale and then with me heading to Indiana for Amanda & Jason’s wedding I don’t have a day off until tomorrow & that is spent on a plane. I’ve had something I had to get done every night this week. Though we did get to spend a little time playing in the pool Tues. night.

Tonight I had to get my nails done after work. Brooke, from work, dropped me off and they got my nails done quicker then normal. And Harold wasn’t out of the court stuff. The nail salon is about 2.5 miles from our house so I started walking. Dang, it was hot. The walk didn’t bother me, I needed the exercise, the sun was. But that is ok, I was able to make the time good by faster by calling dad. =) Harold was able to pick me up on the way home from about mile out from the house. When we got home I headed straight for the pooll…..mainly cuz I was so hot and just wanted to feel good.

Luckly Harold has tomorrow off from jury duty and is able to take me to the airport tomorrow & is able to pick me up. =) I’m very happy about that. But it looks like he is stuck with it, since he has to report back Monday. =(

This is wierd. We are so use to telling each other everything……but he won’t discuss a thing, can’t read the papers. Even though he really just can’t discuss any case or the other jurors, he won’t even discuss the process so nothing will slip, which I fully understand. It is just a hard change & I can’t what until it is over.

Harold spending the weekend in Tampa visiting with a friend of ours who had moved from Indiana a few years ago. So at lest I know he won’t be bored cuz I’m not home. =)

I was talking to Ron (a guy at work) the other day about how my mom took off with my cd of the 40 #1 hits of Alamaba & he came in with a cd of Alamaba music for me! That was so sweet of him. I’m going to be listening to that on the plane & my mother is not getting it……grin

A friend at work (Jackie) had to have minor surgery on her hand last week & isn’t able to work until the 28th. With having that much time off she has been going stir crazy. Ironically she stopped in today when I was just thinking of her. =)

But that is what is happening around there. =) Work & more work….lol I guess I better top off my packing.

What A Week…..

Harold had to do the jury duty thing today & may be stuck with it all week =( If he is, we may be needing to find me a ride to & from the airport. I have folks at work who are willing to help, but I hate to ask things like that. I called and got prices for shuttles………..holy cow! They are high. I was thinking of renting a car, but thought we would have to pay extra for not returning to the orginally location…..but Harold called and found out that it’ll only cost about $30 + gas…..that was not bad at all. So if he is not dismissed, we have a plan. =)

Mom & Dad are home! Landed @ Indy @ 08:30 hrs. Harold called me after dad called him to let us know. Now they have to get through the jet lag & they can’t ease into it cause the kids started school today.

Every since we got new phones, my phone would not ring and would go stright to voice mail if the call was blocked from caller ID. So everytime mom or dad would call me from their cell phone, which was blocked, I wouldn’t even know that they had called. =( It was making me mad. I got a hold of sprint (yet again) and they had me take out the battery for a few minutes and had me call them to hook back up to the system. When I tested it didn’t ring, but the lights came on and it never did that before. So I tested my ringers….the song I assign to the private calls wasn’t working, same with my voicemail…..now that I got them changed out, it works! About time…I was about to head to sprint store & have them exchange it out something….lol Now I can finally receive calls from my folks’ cell phones.

Mom & dad finally got the wills changed. I’ve been after them for awhile about that since they have the kids now. I think that with them going on this trip it helped to get dad in gear. =) Now is set up where everything that was to come to me goes to a living trust for the kids after expenses & bills are paid. I told dad that all I want is something to help with the adjustment in living expenses since the kids would be coming to us….and adding 3 kids to a budget is not easy, and I pray it never happens………the rest will be for their college. So now I feel better about them been taking care of and don’t have to stress about any disagreements with Melinda on what is best for them.

Working another early day tomorrow…..and then having to work on my packing when I get off. =)

My Week

I have just been working this week. We had some contractors here doing duct work earlier this week. They were cool & one of the guys was the brother of the owner of the house. So we know the work was done right & then he would find a few other little things that needed fixing and take care of it.

Meeting them confirmed that we made the right choice to move here & we are extremely happy we moved, cuz we are dealing with a much better landlord & I feel as if they will not screw us over as the last one did……..which is a story for another time.. If we never see her again, it would be too soon.

Mom & Dad left for Tahiti last Saturday & should be coming home tomorrow. I can’t wait for that. I’m hoping that they had a great time, they have earned it. But with the kids with someone I don’t know…….just makes me nervous. And it didn’t start out on a positive note on my end.

Dad called from LA while they were waiting for their connection and he had said that he had tried to call home but it went straight to voicemail. That usually means that someone is online, pc wise, or on the phone. I told him I’d try to call for him later since I was planning on calling every few days anyway to check up on them.

I had talked to dad around 14:30 & then I tried to call for about 5 hours following…..I was getting mad. I was thinking they were online the whole time. Luckily, I had dad give me Donna’s cell phone # and I was able to get ahold of her. She was on her way home & was going to call me back when she got there and found out what was going on. In the end there was a phone off the hook in the house. Mom & Dad have a big house…….heck, I don’t even know what light switches go to where, that is why they are labeled…….lol When Donna called back to see if there was any other phones they didn’t know about I suggested that there may be one in the basement where mom has her sewing stuff & the kids play….sure enough that was the one.

You want to talk about a stress reliever……wow….. I was about to get online and buy Harold or myself a plane ticket to head up and check on the kids…….but he didn’t know that….until now……….lol

Needles to say, I’ll be happy to hear mom & dad’s voice tomorrow when they hit the states. It pretty much comes down to that I don’t know the girl and I’m terriorial/protective when it comes to my family.

I can’t wait to see the pictures from mom & dad…….grin

This coming Friday I’m heading back to Indiana for Amanda & Jason’s wedding. I can’t wait to see them & the rest of the family. I need to figure out what I’m going to wear, find time to get my nails done and pack. I also don’t know if I want to get them a gift or give them money. She had about 60 people at her bridal shower & dad told me that traditionally the bridal shower is more for gifts and wedding more for money…..so I don’t know……what do you think?

Need to head to bed….have an early day tomorrow. =)
